Burping: what it is and what it is for

ruttinoBurping is used to expel some of the air that babies and infants tend to swallow while feeding.
The accumulated air could lead to abdominal bloating or distension or gaseous colic, causing discomfort and discomfort.
After each feeding, therefore, favour burping, but do not worry if it does not happen.

What is the position for burping?
After each feed, in the first few months of life, mum or dad should hold the baby in an upright position for about 15 minutes to encourage burping.

If I work, should I stop breastfeeding?

The decision whether or not to continue breastfeeding when you return to work is a very personal one.

A few considerations can help you to understand what is the right thing for you and your baby:
- if your baby is in the nursery, your milk helps him or her fight off those germs to which he or she may be exposed and consequently reduces the risk of illness;
- getting the baby to take your milk helps you take care of him even if you are not with him;

Weaning: how much to eat from 9 to 12 months?

The following are some indications about the quantities of certain foods, which should be presented to children aged 9 to 12 months; these are quantities to be distributed throughout the day:

  • follow-on milk: 300 cc
  • fruit: 300 g
  • pasta: 80 g
  • parmesan cheese: 5 g
  • vegetables: 200 g
  • extra virgin olive oil: 15 g
  • potatoes: 80 g
  • cookies: 10 g
  • fish: 50 g
  • white meat or cheese: 30 g
    dried legumes: 20 g
